Coinbase has recently hired another new executive. This time, the person hired was Dan Yoo, who will act as the new vice president of business in the company. He is set to replace Emilie Choi, who will continue in the company, but in another area now.
Yoo worked as Chief Operating Officer (COO) at NerdWallet before now and at LinkedIn before that, so he has a pretty big resume. Now, he will be in charge of overseeing business operations, corporate development and the data team of the company.
While he worked for LinkedIn, Yoo helped to found a number of startups. One of them was RealiaQuote, which was one of the first companies ever to offer life insurance brokerage services online.
According to him, Coinbase is a company that is driven by data, so a big part of his job will be to ensure that everybody gets the right data to make the right decisions. He also told the media that he has been interested in the crypto industry as far as 2013 and that he had a Coinbase account before he decided to join the company’s team.
Now, Yoo is focused on helping his new team. He will tie together the operations at Coinbase, which is something that he already did for some other companies before now. Yoo affirmed that he hopes to use his experience to scale the team and get them to work in a more efficient manner, therefore using the resources of the company better.

The crypto division of Square, Square Crypto, has recently hired Matt Corallo. The announcement was made on Twitter. He was one of the co-founders of Blockstream and a prominent Bitcoin dev. He previously worked on Chaincode Labs, too, where he passed almost three years.
Corallo commented on the news affirming that he was very excited to be a part of the team. According to him, it will be very exciting to experiment on Square Crypto and to make Bitcoin even better.
During an interview, he affirmed that the work will be different from what he is used to, but that the bigger the problems, the more you need talent.
The whole project is set to be open source, so the upgrades made by them can be used for others interested in Bitcoin as well.
Square Crypto Is Building Its Team
Corallo was just the newest addition to the company created by Jack Dorsey. Since the announcement of the initiative back in March, many people have been wondering who would be working on it.
The goal of the startup is to create a small but good team that will have a single designer and some software engineers.
Before him, Steve Lee was hired. He worked as a Google director previously and was hired to lead the new team. At the time, he affirmed that the team would be focused on creating the technology that could complement Bitcoin and make it more efficient and mainstream.

EY, one of the four largest auditing firms in the world, has recently revealed that it was hired to work on a new fine wind trading platform that uses the blockchain technology. The company in charge of the new trading platform, WiV Technology, is set to let its clients trade premium wine.
With the help of this blockchain-based platform, traders would be able to certify the authenticity of the wine and determine its origin.
The company has affirmed that smart contracts will be used on the platform in order to help to determine the ownership of several goods and their transactions history as well. The properties of each wine will be able all stored on the blockchain and can be easily accessed with the help of the QR code.
The CEO of Wiv Technology, a man named Tommy Nordam Jensen, affirmed that this will make fine wine trading considerably less expensive. Investors will be able to trade it for only a fraction of the original cost this way.
Normally, large paperwork is needed in order to prove that a bottle of wine is, in fact, valuable without needing to open it first. The blockchain is a major help because it lets the investors trade without having to go through a huge process.
EY will be responsible for helping the company to determine the quality of blockchain technology and to help in enhancing the process.
